New Secretary!

Welcoming our new secretary here in Allegre!! This is Jon Hofer, from Manitoba. He's scheduled to arrive mid-February to begin taking on responsibilities with financial and IT stuff here at the mission. You'll be hearing from him quite a bit, as he'll be taking care of this blog- along with the Clinic blog and other information related things coming from the mission. We're pretty excited about getting Jon onboard here, he comes with a great referral from his church and others who know him. Pray for God's direction for his life while serving here!!

Happy New Year!

The church in Aleg always has a fèt for the new year. This year the whole church had a meal together, after 4-5 hours of services, praying, singing, preaching- nearly 500 people got a delicious meal of rice and beans, a little beef, and various Haitian salads! All the folks at the mission got to serve up plates for people. It was great...

Visiting

Today a few of us walked to visit a neighbor.  This is what we found them doing.

Cleaning the corn to separate the chaff from the kernel with a pilon

My nephew Jaron found a new friend!

Elissa and Rhoda "visiting"
(well, maybe observing since they don't know Creole yet)

The chickens knew that some kernels would jump out just for them!

Well, when the Ontario work team left, we picked up a preaching team from PA.  David Cooper led the team of 8.  Here's just a few shots of their time in Haiti.

Putting the Land cruiser to good use!  They preached in Aleg as well as Com Jean, and Labish.

Two of the Cooper girls, their translator , Rose (left), and Didi, Pastor's daughter from Labish (right).

We were blessed to have them here.  They left just today now.

Team leaving and Haitian life

On Wednesday morning we bid farewell to the team from Ontario.
Thanks so much for all your hard work!
Three of them even braved dengue fever which our compound was fighting when they were here.  Thankfully now in the last few days no one new has come down with it.  Hopefully we got ahead of the mosquitoes!

Janell and I went to watch Marlene make grapefruit rind jam yesterday.

This is a common sight these day, drying beans on the patio.  They pull the whole plant and then dry and shell them.

Progress at the Clinic

Here are a few snapshots from around the mission.

Here is part of the crew from Ontario busy making shelves at the clinic

It's GREAT to see progress at the clinic again!

Shana took the girls on the team to market yesterday.

Took pretty to pass up the pic!

Do continue to pray for those down with dengue fever.  Michael, Dale, and I are doing well, but Breanna is very sick with it now.  Yesterday one of the team members came down with it too.

Arrival of another team!

This week we had a crew of Canadians come to help work in the clinic project!

If you'd like to check out their work, go to www.clinicrebuild.org!
We'll be putting regular updates on there as the work progresses!
