The septic lid...

Today Andrew and Wes went down to the clinic and removed the concrete forms off the septic lid... which included going inside to take the interior framing down!

Thankfully it's a new septic, so nothing has been flushed down yet :) However, there is a lot of rain water down in the bottom, so they lowered a ladder inside so they wouldn't get wet. Andrew climbed in, and began to disassemble the framing inside, handing the pieces up to Wes, who was waiting above.

They got it all done without much difficulty, and were able to move onto other projects...

Hmm... you sure you want to go into there? Kinda dark and scary...

See the water? Just a little stagnant, I'd say...

Making sure the ladder is secure and safe before venturing in...

There he goes!

Don't worry, it'll be ok... just go in, get it done, and get back out!

See him in there?

Andrew took the camera inside to get some shots from his perspective...

Farewell to the latest visitors...

This morning our latest "team" left to go back to the States: Leon and Shawn Zook, and Jonathan Newswanger. They have been working mainly on the floor tile in the clinic, among other things.

Also, Michael and Virginia are going back to the States for a furlough; they'll be gone for about a month.

We'll miss everyone, but we're glad they get to go back to their families once again!

Haiti life, on a daily basis...

Steve, busy swapping some contacts between two phones.

Shana and Anita have a nice afternoon talk out on the porch.

Look closely... In the "guys" house we've have a problem with mice...
Shawn and Leon used the tried-and-true method of "funneling" the mice into the traps.
Worked very well, again!

Andrew takes his job very seriously...
NO pictures, or else!
Thankfully, no water reached the camera :)

Celest (one of our gardeners) looks on in amusement
as the ATV gets power washed.

Doing laundry with a mountainous backdrop seems to be
a very pleasant way to work!

A bountiful harvest of oranges!
We use these mostly for juice during mealtimes.

Shana and Cherie do some laundry together-
even the little ones get to "help" :)

Electrical...

Over the last day or two, Andrew has been working on a lot of electrical wiring for the clinic and our new solar panel array. We thought you'd enjoy seeing some of his handiwork :)

Here he's working in the electrical box at the new clinic,
installing a few new breakers for a temporary power source.

This mess of wires was a temporary fix for getting power from our
big generator to the new clinic.

We needed the new clinic to run off the solar power also, not just the generator.
So, that meant re-wiring the whole system... :)

Now we have a new box supplying the clinic with power!
Excellent job, Andy... excellent job.

Some temporary conduit from the ground to the shop
shields the wire from the elements...

Here's a bonus shot for you :)
At all hours of the day, Claudsie can be seen wandering around with someone else's shoes on.
Today I found him coming out of the shop with a nice pair of tennis shoes on.
Who's they are, I'm not sure, but hopefully we'll find the owner... :)

Rain and mud!

With all the rain, everything is getting greener, the gardens are growing well, and the mud is getting thick!

Everything around the compound is nice and green, and beginning to grow again!

Alex and Claudsie wash one of the ATV's :)

Another rain storm on the way!

Ahh... Saturday!

A very nice Saturday it is turning out to be!

Today Grandpa, Wes, and Steve all went out to town.
Everyone else is going about working on odd-jobs, checking email, and just relaxing.
It's nice to have a more laid-back day, compared to the rest of the week!

Leon Zook is down for a few weeks' visit.
Here he's working on a newly-designed window shade for the pharmacy.

Jonathan Newswanger is also visiting for a while,
and his job today involves helping Andrew clean out the shop...
A daunting task, to be sure... :)

Andrew surveys the disaster-- I mean, work...

Alex's goat nibbles on some sprouts in the garden plot...

Andrew shows Leon and his son Shawn where some tools and material are.

Claudsie makes his presence known everywhere by "helping" anyone he comes across.
A little "big" help, you could say :)

Heidi holds Cherie as they check email and keep up with family back in the States.
